Derailments were happening even after Goyal took office.

“Bullet train project exposes India’s misplaced priorities”

“Derailments were happening even after Goyal took office.”
These kinds of headlines make me think that we Indians will never learn from our mistakes.
Why do stupid people think that changing the head of the institution suddenly makes the whole institution more efficient and increase the safety?

  • No cleanliness and hygiene maintained at kitchens in railway stations and in pantry cars in trains
  • Impure water from tap used in preparation of food; uncovered waste bins and foodstuff attract flies, rats, and cockroaches
  • Contaminated and recycled foodstuff found along with those whose shelf life has expired; unauthorized brands of water bottles sold.
Every one of these can be explained by the culture of ordinary Indians who work in the railway establishment timing rules is not enough but immediate and consistent punishment for rule Breakers he's the only way to improve the standards.

The usual complaint that the government has misplaced priorities and spending money on Prestige projects like bullet trains, while the ordinary majority of the rail safety and maintenance is neglected; does not hold water

This is like saying we should not have Higher Learning institutions before everybody gets primary education.
