Drug recalls ,lawyers, CME programs

Although several factors pertaining to the target may be understood early on by in vitro, predictive simulation and preclinical studies, as well as genetically manipulated rodent models, safety issues can arise unexpectedly many years after a drug is in use in large population cohorts, often compounded by multiple drug combinations or multiple disease states. No new drug screening paradigm will remove that risk, and this must always be examined and managed. Better surveillance programs, better detection methods and improved patient provider education will mitigate some of the risks.

improved patient provider education will mitigate some of the risks.
Should we have  CME programs/ for doctors as well as patients?

I find  CME programs are great at promoting new drugs and very late in talking about side effects.
One learns about these more from the TV ADs placed by Lawyers!
