The panic, hysteria and racial profiling by police in Texas leading to Non compliance with HTN medication in african americans in west Texas.
I work in West Texas in a FQHC Community health center a majority of my patients are Hispanic workers and some African american and Poor white people with chronic medical problems with some drug abuse problems .
recently I have noticed that a number of my patients who have Hypertension and diabetes are non compliant.
when asked why one of the reasons they give is they do not take their medications with them because if they are pulled over by police for any reason and the search reveals any medications which are not in their original bottles they will be forced to discard them in the least or arrested sometimes.
I wonder why the police can not go online to a site like DRUGS.COm and check the drug by entering the ID number imprinted on most medications sold in USA ?
