Which shows that the Indian scientific output is about 1/10 of that of the United States.
Even this number of papers are not of the same quality as those produced in any of the other countries which rank above India.
What is the reason for this we really need to look into and contemplate about this.
As a person who has worked half his life in India and the other half in USA I can realize that one of the main reasons for the pool scientific output from India is mainly because of the idol worship which is prevalent among the scientific community. I have firsthand seen how a single person is put up on the pedestal and just worshiping that person is good enough to improve the scientific quality of the Indian institutions for example everybody was talking Abdul Kalam. As if there is nobody else who has contributed to the scientific advancements in India. This tradition needs to stop and people need to be encouraged to question dogma and also there is a need for increased instruction among the students to start producing original articles instead of just 'me too " productions
