ONCOLOGY is the least stressful specialty but what about dermatology ?

ONCOLOGY is the least stressful specialty?
No wonder  James wilson the oncologist friend  of  Dr.House  is   least stressed !
The rate was also higher for physicians 35 years and younger in
internal medicine (53%) and was similar for family medicine (43%).
 For the so-called high-stress specialties,
the burnout rates for younger physicians were lower than the overall rates; the rates were
42% for critical care,
38% for emergency medicine,
30% for oncology
Shanafelt et al. noted that between 2011 and 2014, the burnout rate increased more than 10% in nine specialties
  • Family medicine (51% vs. 63%)
  • Pediatrics (general) (35% vs. 46%)
  • Urology (41% vs. 64%)
  • Orthopedic surgery (48% vs. 60%)
  • Dermatology (32% vs. 56%)
  • Physical medicine and rehabilitation (47% vs. 63%)
  • Pathology (38% vs. 52%)
  • Radiology (48% vs. 61%)
  • General surgery subspecialties (42% vs. 53%)
Among the five specialties with the highest rates of severe burnout: family medicine (11%) and internal medicine (10%

 Information technology has changed physicians' work environments, and this, too, is a factor contributing to burnout. {Stupid software EHr written by Stupid software professionals and approved by imbecile administrators}
