మధ్యపానం చాలా పాడుపని, బలవంతంగా మద్య నిషేధం పెట్టడం అందరికీ క్షేమకరం అని “బుద్ధి” మంతులంతా ఏకగ్రీవంగా అంటారు కదా. చలం అట్లా కాదు. ఈ “బుద్ధి” చట్రాన్ని పగలగొడతాడు.మధ్యపాన నిషేధం దయావంతులే పూనుకున్నట్లైతే , మద్యపానం మీద కసే మనిషికి లేకపోతే , తాగేవాళ్ళ మీద నిజమైన జాలే ఉంటే , తప్పకుండా ఆ చట్టం ఇంకోవిధంగా అమలులోకి వచ్చేది… ప్రజలకి మధ్యపానం చెడ్డదని ఒక సూత్రం ఆధారం చేసుకుని, అనేక వేల జనాన్ని ఇంత కృరంగా అకస్మాత్తుగా బాధ పెట్టడం జరగదు. ప్రజల ఆరోగ్యానికీ, నీతికీ, ధనాభివృద్ధికీ ఈ విధంగా బలవంతపు సన్స్కారాలు ప్రారంభిస్తే , ఈ లోక సన్స్కారం జీవిత సారం పీల్చేసేదాకా ఆగదు. ధర్మపరులైన మనుషులూ, ధర్మబద్ధాలైన దేశాలంత భరింపరానివి ఉండవనుకుంటాను” గుర్తుంచుకోండి, చలం మధుప్రియుడు కాడు!
