Despite advancements in PCI technology there is no evidence that PCI is Superior to guideline directed medical therapy in the treatment of stable angina. Specifically, neither COURAGE trial a patient with stable angina norBARI2D trial of patients with concomitant CAD and diabetes showed any difference in mortality or incidence of MI between treatment strategies. PCI is indicated for the treatment of patients with medically refractory angina, those who are unable to tolerate optimal medical therapy going to side effects, or those with high-risk features on non-invasive and imaging tests
