NGO tales joliwala kahaniyan

The same element of chance can derail a career. NGOs come and go; funding is provided for a specific project and then ends. A friend told us a particularly sad story of seeing a former NGO colleague selling tomatoes in the market—her luck was bad, the NGO left the country, and she couldn’t get another job.7 For elite brokers, such misfortunes are like the vagaries of the weather for subsistence farmers: sometimes it rains too much, sometimes too little, sometimes just right. The brokers, would-be brokers, and intermediaries of all sorts are like corks—continually bobbing to the surface but with little control over their direction—in the churning wake of billions of dollars of foreign aid.
